Frank is a Principal Staff Research Scientist in the Experiences Research Lab at Motorola. His work combines methods from anthropology, computer science, human computer interaction, and design to invent and prototype new concepts to strengthen social relationships. This path moves from ethnographic-style studies, to prototypes with field evaluations, to creating new products from these concepts. Recent work has included Contacts 3.0, the concept for the social phonebook in MOTOBLUR, and TuVista, a sports-video system that provides multi-angle replays and fan-generated content to mobile devices within 30 seconds of a play occurring. Frank also teaches a class, Communicating with Mobile Technology, at MIT.

He has spent the past 8 years in mobile user experience design at TELUS, Orange, Nokia and several leading design agencies in Europe and Canada. At Orange in London, he lead the re-design of the Orange Homescreen. Markus worked on the Nokia N700 Internet Tablet, the Nokia 7700/ 7710 touchscreen media devices and the Nokia 9300/ 9500 Communicator devices based at Mobile Innovation in London.

A passionate educator, Markus has lectured and initiated design partnerships at universities in the Europe and North America. Most recently, he was the Design Exchange's "Designer In the Classroom," spending a year exploring mobile design with 32 seventh graders in Toronto.

Markus has a Master's degree in interaction design from the University of Westminster, London and a Bachelor's degree in International Trade from the University of Waterloo.

Some of Prof. Horn's recent research projects have included an investigation of multi-touch tabletops in natural history museums and the use of tangible programming languages in kindergarten classrooms and science museums.

Prior to Microsoft, Albert led the convergence of technology and sports efforts at Nike resulting with the digital Nike+ experience.
